Family art therapy

Problems with relationships and communication when raising children: many families struggle with this. The key is to understand that in every family, difficulties arise in different stages. They can be very complex in nature. They can gradually pile up overtime. That is when it is worth considering the use of specialists.

For who?

  • sibilings, with whom there are communication difficulties and conflicts
  • families, which for various reasons are in crisis or in which conflicts often arise
  • parents who want to better understand themselves and their family members.

What are the benefits?

  • Improving communication and cooperation in the family.
  • Establishing or deepening relationships and deepening bonds. Recognizing the value and potential of the family.
  • A better understanding of their own, as well as their families, emotions and needs.

How is it done at TUTU?

Art therapy at the TUTU Center pursues its goals through visual arts, often using elements of:

  • Active music therapy (singing, playing instruments, movement with music improvisation) and receptive music therapy (listening to music, relaxation, and visualization)
  • Drama therapy (theater, drama – playing various social roles in improvised situations, pantomime)
  • Choreotherapy (dance, movement)
  • Book therapy (the use of selected or specially created reading materials for therapeutic purposes, such as fairy tales)

The starting point for the design and implementation of the classes is the diagnosis of the child’s individual needs and goals. The classes are based on the developmental and therapeutic effects of art and the creative process, but also often on the experience of being in a group of siblings with similar challenges, goals, needs, at a similar developmental age, where a sense of community, acceptance, and self-worth can be (re)built.
