Małopolskie hikes for preschoolers
Małopolskie hikes for preschoolers
Few regions in Poland can compare with the Małopolska region when it comes to attracting tourists. The history of the region, the wealth of historical monuments and cultural institutions, but also the qualities of the landscape attract millions of visitors.
Which of these will interest preschoolers the most?
This question will be best answered by the poems and colorful illustrations in the mini-guide „Małopolska Wanderings for Preschoolers,” published by the Subcarpathian Association for Active Families. It contains descriptions of 20 tourist attractions from all over the province, especially friendly to families with children.
What are the benefits of sightseeing for children?
The sense of investing time and energy in the multifaceted development of the youngest is confirmed by the results of psychological, sociological, economic studies. Cultural capital, although more difficult to measure than financial capital, increases opportunities in education and the job market. And yet, one may question to what extent parents are investing in this area. A regional demographic study by GUS (Time Budgets program, 2014) indicates that the most common way families spend their free time together is watching TV, which is an activity done not so much together, but side by side. There is a lack of interaction here, and one can also have serious doubts about the developmental potential of most of the programs watched. At the same time, the same research shows that sitting in front of the TV is the activity that respondents would most like to limit. What they would be most willing to spend more time on are outings outside the home.
Books in the hiking series for preschoolers are designed to help them do just that: show them where there is something interesting to see in the region and, even if the place is familiar to someone, remind them of it and give them an incentive to take a family trip.
